As a new player to the game i can make a resounding "Yes!" as the answer you are looking for.
Guild wars was a game i overlooked whilst i played P2P games like Lotro/wow/warhammer etc...... Although i am spending my time casually getting to know this game and rolling differnet classes to find my niche, i can safely say that i have a bloody good feeling about where i am going with this one. To be honest if i had started this game 3 years ago i doubt whether the aforementioned mmo's would have been sniffed at. I am very impressed by what i have seen so far. I fully expect my gaming to turn more towards this game by the end of April. |

Talking about the activity in-game, I can say that there is still lots and lots of players to meet and have fun with. There's players who actually enjoy this game because they have been here so long and just to have fun. Then there are these "most arrogant soloers who think they know everything in the game" (most "leet" ones) and these can be found more than too often in all sorts of Elite areas, like DoA, UW and FoW or even some dungeons. It means that if you don't know what and how to play, you're being ignored and so on. Gladly that group is only minority in this "community", but I have to face the fact that the very group of players is growing.
If you want more "family-like" circles to spend time with, I'd suggest you to get to know players, different styles of professions (how to tank with assassin or heal with elementalist and so on). There's huge variety of different styles and ways to play all of these professions here. Some players are willing to help you to know your profession, then some are automatically expecting that you know what is your place in team and what you have to do there. Walkaway-technique always work on the "last" occassions better than just standing there and arguing about things. Welcome to the community! Hope you don't find yourself bailed too often at start. If you're called "noob", ignore and play as you can. You'll learn eventually. =) |

What would me make happy in the game would be to find at least a few people that would like to have fun playing with me, to solve quests with them, primary and secondary, and just hang around to talk about our adventures in the small breaks we take between quests. But I guess I will wait and see if this is possible also. I'm trying not to make my expectations too high. |

I am curious though, will I be able to continue with my Necromancer from the 10 free hours once I get the Game Dvd or do I have to make a new account and new characters? |

Definitely get it. And yes, you should be able to continue your necromancer, I started Prophecies on a trial basis and continued my characters from there once I actually purchased the game.

Yes you will, so no worries there,
Welcome to Guild Wars, yes the Campfire section will let you read up on the professions and give yourself a better insight. Play what you wish to play as fun/enjoyment is the important part here. Necros will always be a good choice so yur heading in the right areas, As you said complete collection so this means in effect any char your make in any campaign can move from one to another at a port city. Enjoy the game |

The wiki is also a great source of information, or if you just wanna check up on daily updates or whatever.
The Necromancer page here is a great place to start a necromancer, as it offers tips, what to do and not do, a skill list, etc, etc. Necromancers have very well-rounded abilities in PvE, PvP, Farming, you name it. Good luck! And btw, if you start in Prophecies, make sure to take a whole lot of screenies early on. |

I'm sure the welcome posts are getting redundant by now but welcome anyways!
For the most part try to focus on PvE at first. Don't try to jump into PvP until you have at the very least hit lvl 20 and unlocked enough skills to make a build that works for you. That way when you jump to that part of the game it will be all the more enjoyable. Just avoid going to Heroes Ascent no matter how long you have played. |
